August 2006 Review

1st August 2006

I'd seen this done somewhere else, so decided to give it a go myself, pretty much copying it! Though the version I saw was much better and in colour with nice greens. I didn't have any green bottles with nice curves so I just used a plastic two-litre bottle. The intended effect was still the same though!

2nd August 2006

My first venture into some selective colouring! The church just up the road had some nice flowers outside it, so they were a perfect candidate!

33rd August 2006

A rusty hook out in the back garden, maybe there was a hanging basket on it once!

4th August 2006

In the evening after work on this Friday, I decided to venture outside and see what the local area had to offer. I found a better, closer way to get to the canal near my house. I just took the one lens with me, the 28-135 as this is apparently a great "walkaround" lens. So I took it for a walk... around... the canal. I took quite a few photos, even enough to make a gallery, but I used this damselfly as the picture of the day. The rest of the photos can be found here.

5th August 2006

A bit more of a play with selective colouring! A pedestrian crossing in town. When the green man appears, you cross! Simple! I wanted to blur the people a bit more, but the light wouldn't let me, though I think the result is still quite pleasing.

6th August 2006

Another party at Mark's, this time with a plasma ball! This was taken early Sunday morning.

7th August 2006

A pretty uninspiring photo of my original camera case, with its sign of quality. Lowepro make some fantastic gear!

8th August 2006

The gas hob in the kitchen. Nothing to write home about at all, and I took a much better version later on in the year!

9th August 2006

A bit of crazy panning on a Thursday night, lovely suburban orange colours there.

10th August 2006

And some more orange! My street in wide angle with loads of flare coming off the streetlight and a bit of fashionable tilt.

11th August 2006

I don't know what my intentions were here, but I really like the result, but I don't really know why. It's another venture down to the canal but with a view probably totally overlooked!

12th August 2006

Overtime! Yay! It's a Saturday and I'm breaking my fingertips crimping network cable all day. Joy! Isn't it all pretty and colourful though?!

13th August 2006

Time for a beer on Sunday evening!

14th August 2006

I bought some GOOD strawberries on Monday! They're rather red! They tasted amazing aswell!

15th August 2006

Crazy stuff! It's me waving a torch around, and then the image is inverted. Simple, but effective.

16th August 2006

And you thought there was going to be a month without a shot out of the window?! This one is a bit noisy, and not very sharp, but I kept it anyway, I liked the clouds!

17th August 2006

A DSLR'd version of a photo I took ages ago. Yes it is my eye, and yes I'm aware I've got girl's eyelashes! You're all just jealous!

18th August 2006

Back at Mark's on a Friday night, this time, it was a stop on the way to Blackpool. Mark's driveway had a bit of snail infestation, which was quite good for me, because I could take some photos!

19th August 2006

Blackpool on the Saturday for another CF-Live trip, I think this was the only photo of a Roller Coaster I took all day The Pepsi Max Big One, with some interesting light! The rest of the photos can be found here.

20th August 2006

Sunday was the second part of the CF-Live at (the Late) Southport Pleasureland, again I think this is the only Roller Coaster photo I took all day, and it's a pretty terrible one. As usual there are more photos, and they can be found here.

21st August 2006

While I was away, the patio had some work done to it, and I thought that it would make a nice photo! It's not bad, but getting all the lines straight was a nightmare!

22nd August 2006

It's the NTL remote, in all it's rubbishness. The buttons are useless.

23rd August 2006

There was some annoying dripping coming from the gutter onto the fence, so I tired to photograph it in motion. I think I managed quite well, but it's not a great photo really!

24th August 2006

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear Martyn, happy birthday to ME!

25th August 2006

Friday evening Rob and I travelled to Donington as the Le Mans series was there all weekend. I'd planned to take some photos of the planes coming out of East Midlands airport, but the weather was awful, so we sat in Rob's car and I took a photo of his cool blue dials instead!

26th August 2006

Saturday was Le Mans Series practice and qualifying, here's a Lister Storm.

27th August 2006

And a Pescarolo during the race on Sunday! The weekend's LMS photos can be found here.

28th August 2006

Yep, it's another out of the window shot, and again because the clouds were just plain cool! There's a couple of birds flying around in there too, if you can spot them!

29th August 2006

I had a few beers on Sunday night after Donington because it was a Bank Holiday Monday the day after and I was sat up most of the night talking to friends! On Tuesday I took a photo of the remains! I really like this photo, I think the monochrome looks really good!

30th August 2006

Down to the canal again! This was an extremely long exposure in the dark, which you can just about tell from the satin effect on the water. I don't really like it though.

31st August 2006

Some water on the bathroom floor, the monochrome really sets it off I think. It looks so much more intense than it actually was!
